First Birthdays
So you made it through the first year! Yay you!
Who knew that keeping a little human safe would be so hard. Celebrating the first of many birthdays for your babies first birthday can look many different ways. You can decide how this looks by looking at many different factors the first of which is….is there a global pandemic?! (just kidding) but really you should start with who is coming to this celebration! Starting with a guest list in mind can be a great starting point. For me, the first birthday party was the first chance some of my extended family had to meet my baby in real life. It helps you think through where the party should be and also a budget!
For me, setting a budget helps me make sure that I don’t regret anything about my baby’s birthday. I just want to enjoy it, have them enjoy it, and stop to celebrate the year, I want that for you too. Parties can really start to add up, once you factor in a cake, party favors, decorations, special outfits, there is lots to think about and a ton of ways to accidentally slip into overspending.
Decorating can be as simple or as complex as you make it. I personally have found that helium balloons can add a lot of character to a space for a range of prices. You can do a small bouquet and make a big impact or you can do large balloons and define a space or have a message for the birthday pictures.
Start gathering some ideas and thinking about what you would like for your party to look like and then backwards plan to make it happen! What’s the most important thing about the party, is it a great cake that looks good in pictures? Is it a clearly defined space for pictures with the baby? Is it a super cute dessert table? Is it all of the above?
